The mask: a smoking tutorial on turning something old into something new

Wearing a mask became part of our daily routines.

Therefore we decided to make a short and fun tutorial for those of you that own a sewing machine (or can borrow one) and know a little bit of sewing. Hopefully we can start the live tutorials soon - but until then we will try to make as many fun videos as possible.

This one is inspired by silent movies and we hope you use it and send us pictures with your masks!

What do you need?

  1. a sewing machine - you can also sew it by hand but the results will probably not be the same and you will probably spend a lot of time on it

  2. two pieces of fabric - they can be the same or different colours/patterns. We used an old shirt and a piece of an old bedsheet - we recommend you do the same, find something old that you don't use anymore and turn into something new.

  3. the mask pattern - download it here

  4. thread

  5. scissors

  6. thread trimmer

  7. measuring tape

  8. chalk or soapstone

  9. elastic band/rope (aprox. 35cm)

You can find the explanations inside the video - if you have any questions don't hesitate to write us an email or a pm on facebook or instagram.

And if you don't have a sewing machine or you're not yet comfortable with sewing your own mask, we made a lovely set of 7 - a Weekly Dose of Protection - that you can buy here.
